Knowledge is Power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, change and growth in every society and in every family. It is the anchor to the change we wish to see in the world and the most effective way to break out of the cycle of poverty. Yet, after 73 years of Independence, over two crore children still remain deprived of education as well as access to schools. This state of apathy forces these young minds into losing their childhood to earn bread for a living.

To complement the growth as well as anchor the basic right to education, Government through the enactment of its Right to Education Act, 2009 have been making its way in enrolling and retaining children in school especially from the marginalized section of the society. According to one of the surveys conducted by National Survey in 2014 for Estimation of Out-of-School Children concluded that more than 60% of children dropped out of school before completing 3rd grade and according to the Institute for Policy Research Studies (PRS), nearly 50% of students dropped out by 11th grade. With the presence of such troubling as well as staggering numbers, the proper utilisation of the Right to Education Act is yet to be made.
The Power of NGOs
When things go out of the way and have a major imbalance in the society, NGOs step in to balance the see-saw. They have a major role to play in ensuring that every underprivileged child gets the same platform to start from and therefore having access to education so that they could mould their future according to their will. Many NGOs like Connecting Dreams Foundation, Save the Children, World Vision, UNICEF, Cry etc in India work at the grass-root level to spread awareness about the importance of education, strengthen the education system and enroll as many children as possible so they can thrive in life.
The major anchor for the growth of any NGO is the amount of support and funds they receive from the people so as to bring their thoughts into action. Anyone can donate and save a child's life. While supporting a cause, you will also end up saving tax. This small step can help in incrementing a child's life in the following ways:
a) Enrollment in Schools
b) Quality Education
c) Counseling and Awareness
d) Skill Development Workshops
All this can be achieved when we work together and go hand in hand with the efforts made by members of different NGOs. Even though the end result might not be visible in a jiffy, however, with patience, effort and support it can be accomplished and is not at all impossible. With you we can and for you we can!
