As we know, every coin has two sides and this worldwide pandemic has apparently made us witness this. The Covid-19 pandemic has been a life changing experience for the human kind in every possible way. The human race has suffered tremendously but we cannot repudiate the fact that it has brought some gigantic changes too which are positive in terms of nature, beings, lifestyle etc. Whole country's shutdown had not only disrupted our daily routine but also confined us to our homes, which gave us plenty of time in our hands for us to be sustainable because it isn’t just altruistically imperative now but has become a brand requirement of the changing environment, lifestyle and diversity. In terms of youngsters' dictionaries, sustainability is the new normal. Apart from the changes in lifestyle and habits, this lockdown pandemic has also witnessed some drastic changes in terms of economics like alteration in consumer and retailer behaviour because awareness has made people susceptible to save more and consume smartly. Be it cooking from scratch or giving breaks to our cars and bikes, we have unknowingly given relief to our environment and happiness to our climate action members. Specifically, in the urban areas we have noticed a number of households composting their organic waste which is considered to be one of the most effective and simple ways of composting the organic matter. Our government took the initiative of ‘vocal for local’ which has really helped local vendors to uplift themselves in the days of crisis, people permuted their habits by buying loose ration and groceries. This is certainly my favourite part of the worldwide lockdown as it really gave an enormous amount of self- reliance and fortitude among our local shopkeepers. College students especially tried to go vegan for the health benefits and good shape. Some of us gave our time to make our neighbourhood greener and more breathable by putting our skills in gardening differently. Girls and women tried sustainable menstruation, yes! you heard that right, they switched to menstrual cups as they had enough time to test it without feeling much uncomfortable and anxious moreover they saved some 9000 pads to go to the landfills also contributing to an eco- friendly environment. Extrapolating in the most honest way possible, this lockdown and the dreadful consequences of pandemic which is still incurable have made us feel uncertain and fretful at various points but it did help us in several life changing experiences, our earth is greener and healing. Air and water have become purer, we came closer to each other and learned a few things online. What’s done and cannot be reversed is unchangeable, all we can do is have gratitude for being alive and witnessing the glimpse of these beautiful days.
